In the Wings is a series of filmed human interest interviews with composers, writers, and creatives of new British musical theatre. The series was created during the first pandemic lockdown in early 2020, and featured the first live performances inside a theatre since the industry shutdown. In the Wings shines a light on the shows directly affected by the industry’s shutdown, as well as the shows taking their next steps moving forward.
Filmed in accordance with social distancing guidelines, the programme features performances of their work, with a combination of established performers as well as emerging artists.
Co-created by Justin Williams and Henry Brennan, the entire series is free to watch on YouTube, and has been viewed by over 150,000 people across the sixteen episodes.
Shows that have been featured on In the Wings include No Limits: a Song Cycle, Legends of Arahma, Gretel: The Musical, Dorian: A Rock Musical, The Wicker Husband, You and I, Millennials, Terror at the Sweetshop, Plan Bea, The Rise, Tarrytown, Deptford Wives, Fiver, The Red Side of the Moon, Reality Bites: The Interactive Musical, and Améliore. .
